Born in a different era, William Henry Porter developed and perfected the short story form and the pen name of O Henry, under which many of his most well-known works would be submitted. A very large number of his stories were revealed to the public in various newspapers and magazines.
In these offerings, stories about everyday life incorporated playful and witty dialogue, and often utilized surprising plot twists at their conclusions. These tales have been enjoyed by countless readers of his day and since.
