1. How do I purchase The Power of a Pawn?
Go to this website and click “Add to Cart” in the top right. You will be prompted to create an account with Smashwords.com, which is an easy process. Once you enter your information, you will need to go to your email inbox to confirm your new account. After this, go back to Smashwords and click on “View Cart” in the top right of your screen. Simply click on the bright green “Checkout” button on the Cart page and follow the instructions.
The Power of a Pawn is also available in Apple’s iBookstore, the Nook Store and through Kobo and Diesel.
2. How much does it cost to create a Smashwords account?
Creating a Smashwords account is free, and it only takes a couple of minutes.
3. I don’t have an e-reader like a Kindle or a Nook. Can I still read The Power of a Pawn?
Yes. Follow the instructions in #1 above to purchase The Power of a Pawn. After you complete your purchase, you will be able to download the book as a PDF file, or even read it right on Smashwords.com. You also have the option of printing out the entire e-book from the PDF file, if you like!
4. What is an e-book?
E-book stands for electronic book. E-books have become popular due to e-reading devices such as Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook and the proliferation of smartphones. However, you do not necessarily need a special device to read an e-book. In the case of The Power of a Pawn, you can read it right on your personal computer.
5. I’ve read The Power of a Pawn and really enjoyed it. Is there a place I can post a review online, to encourage others to read the book too?
Yes! After purchasing the book on Smashwords, return to this page and scroll to the bottom where you will have the option to write a review.
If you purchased The Power of a Pawn through Amazon, Barnes & Noble or another platform, you can write a review through them.
6. How do I give The Power of a Pawn to a friend for Christmas or another special occasion?
When you purchase The Power of a Pawn for yourself (see #1 above), increase the quantity in your cart to include the copies you wish to give as gifts. You are then legally permitted to download whichever file format you like, attach it to an email, and send it as a gift.
7. How do I purchase a print copy of The Power of a Pawn?
The Power of a Pawn is not currently available in print form. We hope to make it available in the future, as additional books in The Game of Life series are released.

Is the Pawn the main character Amanda, is the Pawn any follower of Christ, is the Pawn the children, or is the Pawn someone you have yet to meet? Read this story and become involved in the storylines of these well wrtitten characters. My review from Smashwords is not as we worded as some that you should check out, but here is what I submitted: “Such a poignant story of a young mother and the loss of both of her children. Mr. Spite sends you on a whirlwind tour of Amanda’s life as you are fully engaged in the mystery of what happened to her children. Is she a murderer or isn’t she? Read this story and find out as I am not going to ruin it for you and tell! Throughout the book, you realize that no matter in what walk of life you are in, God is there to bolster and support you. The many twists and turns within the plot keep you reading and the writing style allows you to fully visualize each scene. Now I have become emotionally involved with the characters, I cannot wait to read the rest of the series and see the journey God leads each one on! Thank you Mr. Spite for a wonderful first book.”
Trying to purchase a second copy of TPOAP did not work for me, but thankfully SMASHWORDS has added a gift option. You will need the name and email of the person you are giving a copy to and your payment info, then just go to Smashwords, The Power of a Pawn and click on gift copy. At this point you can only enter one email address at a time, but a few extra key strokes to do it again won’t hurt anyone.

Enid, I’m sorry you had problems with purchasing the book as a gift. It was a very awkward process too. I’m so excited about the new gift option! Have you tried it yet?
Are there plans to eventually have The Power Of A Pawn in a printed version? I lost the Beyond The Farthest Star eBook in a hard drive crash in December. Now a virus has taken out The Power Of A Pawn on my current computer!
Plus, I really like to hold a book in my hands and read while snuggled up in bed or on the couch. Hard to do that with a book you are reading on your desktop.
